When a partial tear or injury occurs, the treatment may be conservative: physiotherapy, rest, pharmacotherapy, biological therapy (platelet-rich plasma) as outlined in the previous section.
However, in complete symptomatic tears involving functional weakness, surgical intervention is necessary. The repair work normally involves arthroscopic surgery and using anchors to reinsert the tendons into the bone. The application of platelet-rich plasma here is highly recommended in order to enhance surgical repair.
