The Advanced Physiotherapy Unit was set up as a solution to the need to provide an integral service for recovery from the trauma injuries treated in the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit by Doctor Mikel Sánchez and his medical team.
The aim is for the prevention and treatment of trauma injuries in order to re-establish the functional capacity of patients and to improve their life quality. The unit is committed to adapting our expertise to each individual patient and to each individual situation in order for the recovery to be satisfactory and for the desired outcome to be achieved. The highly-experienced team of physiotherapists is engaged in continuous training in order to be able to apply cutting-edge techniques to enable rapid satisfactory recovery.
Patrick Middleton, a world-famous rehabilitation physician in the field of sports medicine who specialises in the rehabilitation of elite sportspersons, actively collaborates with the Advanced Physiotherapy Unit, and holds consultations within the facilities. This unit is made up of a team of physiotherapists in constant communication with Doctor Mikel Sánchez and the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit team.
Individual care and attention ensures constant patient monitoring and a close traumatologist-physiotherapist-patient relationship.
The treatments are based mainly on the combination of manual therapies and hydrotherapy using cutting-edge technology such as Alter G, Biodex or Indiba Ergo Activ so that recovery from trauma injuries may be as fast and as satisfactory as possible to re-establish the functional capacity of patients and to improve their life quality. These physiotherapy treatments are backed up by a programme of exercises and recommendations for patients to perform at home.
Furthermore, the Advanced Physiotherapy Unit also has a Back School, a Hip School and the recently launched Shoulder School.
