The Translational Research Unit is the branch of the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit responsible for research into the different biological therapies and into the application of new technologies in the field of Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery. It was set up as a necessary solution for the aim to promote and develop world-class research work.
The high patient volume and the diversity of injuries offer us a unique, and almost obligatory, opportunity to use the data and findings generated. This research enables us to enhance treatments and has a direct impact on patient health. For this reason, the research undertaken at the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit and at the Biological Therapy Unit provides a unique almost unlimited source of information which enables us to enhance both our treatments and our patient care.
In addition to this clinical research, the Translational Research Unit also works together with other centres at both national and international level within the field of basic and experimental research. The main aim of this research is to enhance the Plasma Rich in Growth Factors and to find new applications for this.
For this reason, the ultimate aim of this Translational Research Unit is to conduct quality clinical and pre-clinical research which serves as a tool available to society to improve the quality of life of the population.
