Dr. Francisco Soldado creates an innovative minimally invasive technique to treat Sprengel deformity

Dr. Francisco Soldado, together with Dr. Gorka Knörr, both members of the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit of Dr. Mikel Sánchez (UCA, according to the Spanish acronym), has created a minimally invasive surgical technique to treat Sprengel deformity. This pathology is a very rare malformation that exhibits a high and small scapula with decreased shoulder elevation.

The standard Woodward procedure requires a very large surgical incision in order to descend the scapula. The technique devised by Dr Soldado has proven to achieve excellent results just by making two small incisions following the Woodward procedure endoscopically.

Dr. Francisco Soldado, member of the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit (UCA, according to the Spanish acronym) of Dr. Mikel Sánchez, is a traumatologist and orthopaedic surgeon of great international recognition and prestige in several fields such as hand, paediatric upper extremity and microsurgery.
