Jorge Guadilla

He commenced his career in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Odontology, University of the Basque Country and graduated with a Degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1998. He has been involved in sports his whole life and for this reason he understands and shares the importance of sports injuries and the suffering involved. This led him to specialise in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology due to the close relationship between this field of medicine and sports. He trained in his specialty at the Santiago Hospital Vitoria-Gasteiz between 2001 and 2006.

In 2004 he commenced his outstanding professional career as the disciple of Dr. Mikel Sánchez at the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit (UCA). He was to receive specialised training within this unit in arthroscopic surgery, in minimally invasive treatments and in biological therapies. In 2006, he received an Arthroscopic Surgery Unit grant to undertake experimental surgery in this unit and became an active member of the Research Team.

In 2005 he was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester-Minnesota (USA), in the Orthopedic Department, Lower Limb-Adult Reconstruction. Since 2008 he has been a member of the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit and Biological Therapy Unit medical team where he has been actively involved in the experimental and clinical research work performed by this team.

His main area of interest is lower-limb pathology, particularly related to the hip. For this reason in 2009, with Dr. Nicolás Fiz, he created the Hip Unit within Dr. Mikel Sánchez's Arthroscopic Surgery Unit. He has been guest speaker at different National and International Congresses on arthroscopic and prosthetic pathology and biological therapies. Recently he represented the Arthroscopic Surgery and Biological Therapy Units at International conferences held in Innsbruck (ESSKA, 2008), Taiwan (National Orthopaedic Association Congress), Qatar (2010) and Rio de Janeiro (ISAKOS 2011).

He is currently a member of the Basque-Navarrese Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Society (SVNCOT) where he has been Treasurer since 2010.
