Dr. Juan Carlos Pérez graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1997, from the La Laguna University, Tenerife. From 1999 to 2003 he took Basic Surgery Training in Yorkshire, England. He later took specific training in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology as Rotation in the East Midlands (Derby and Nottingham, England) until 2007. He completed his specialisation in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Santiago Apóstol Hospital in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2012 following a stay at St. George’s Hospital, London in 2011 where he was trained in handling pelvic and acetabular fractures and complex lower limb fractures.

Since 2012, he has worked as a Specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Lower Limb Unit in the Santiago Apóstol Hospital, Vitoria-Gasteiz and in 2013 he joined Doctor Sánchez's Arthroscopic Surgery Unit where he was to receive specific training in arthroscopic surgery and treatment using platelet growth factors in musculoskeletal disorders. Since 2014 he has exclusively worked for Dr. Mikel Sánchez's Arthroscopic Surgery Unit.

His main area of interest is hip and knee replacement surgery (arthroplasty), complex lower-limb fractures and treatment using PRP for musculoskeletal disorders. Throughout his career he has taken part in different congresses and courses as both trainer and speaker. He has played an active role in Arthroscopic Surgery Unit research projects and in their respective scientific papers. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and of AO Trauma.
